Mark
Kulungian has been collecting and dealing pool cues and memorabilia for
over 30 years. During that time he had amassed a very large collection
of cues from the likes of Balabushka, Szamboti, Rambow, Paradise, Palmer,
Ginacue and many other artisans. Mark and his collection has been covered
in multiple magazine articles and featured in publications such as the
blue book and the billiard encyclopedia. Although Mark’s tastes
are mainly traditional and classically designed cues, he has occasionally
strayed to obtains pieces that he felt were worthy of his collection,
and cues he felt were destined to be future collectibles.
Marks
collection includes:
- A dozen fancy Balabushkas
- A few pristine, unchalked shafts
- Gus Szamboti’s last personal cue
- Fanciest rosewood Gus Szamboti
- Thomas Waynes first disintegrating cue with error pieces
- Eddie Taylors Gina Cue
- A few Jimmy Caras cues, one is a fancy Palmer with a Bushka wrap
- A few other cues owned by legends of the game
- Multiple Paradise Diamond Kings
- One is all original, never touched in mint condition
- James White, FIRST cue
- Many, many other cues and cases
A
family affair:
Mark
may possess the lion’s share of cues, but make no mistake when it
comes to cues, his whole family gets involved. His wife and largest supporter,
Lynn has a few cues of her own as you can see in the photos, some not
shown. His daughters also own multiple cues that have been made for them
by the likes of Paul Mottey.
Cue
dealing:
Having
been involved in dealing cues since the mid 70's, Mark has seen his share
of cues. From Szambotis, Bushkas, Rambows , Schick, Joss Wests and many
others. Mark was partnered with the great cuemaker Joel Hercek, in the
mid to late 80's, before Joel took over Burton Spains cue making shop.
Mark’s beginnings were bi-monthly photo shoots and mailing lists
before the internet age. Pool Table Magic has been an internet staple
since 2001. Mark has also been a fixture at Allen Hopkins Super Billiards
Expo, only taking one year off to play in the World Trick Shot tournament.
The past few years have been slow because of Marks involvement with his
new room, but the year 2007 looks to be a comeback year in cue dealing.
